Are You Eligible? Quick Eligibility Check

Good news: JEE Main keeps it straightforward. As long as you've passed Class 12 in 2024, 2025, or are appearing in 2026, you're in the game. Here's the breakdown:

Age Limit: None! Born anytime? You're good (but JEE Advanced has its own rules).

Mandatory Subjects: Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics in Class 12.

Minimum Marks: 75% aggregate in Class 12 (or top 20 percentile in your board). For SC/ST, it's 65%.

Attempts: Up to three consecutive years post-Class 12.

Qualifying Exams: Covers CBSE, state boards, NIOS, IB Diploma, and more. Even a 3-year diploma qualifies you for JEE Main (but not Advanced).

State code matters for home-state quotas in counseling, so double-check your details. Full details will hit with the info brochure—stay tuned.

Exam Pattern: Know the Battlefield

JEE Main 2026 sticks to the 2025 revamp: shorter, smarter, and still intense. It's a computer-based test (CBT) except for B.Arch drawing. Negative marking (-1 for wrong MCQs) means guess wisely!

Paper 1: B.E./B.Tech (The Core One)

Subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Math.

Questions: 75 total (25 per subject: 20 MCQs + 5 numerical; attempt all 20 MCQs, any 5 numericals).

Duration: 3 hours.

Marks: 300 (+4 per correct).

Languages: 11 options, including English and Hindi.

Paper 2A: B.Arch

Subjects: Math (30 Qs), Aptitude (50 MCQs), Drawing (2 Qs).

Total: 77 questions, 3 hours, 400 marks? Wait, no—still 300 marks total.

Paper 2B: B.Planning

Subjects: Math (20 Qs), Aptitude (50 MCQs), Planning (25 MCQs).

Total: 100 questions, 3 hours, 400 marks? Aligned to 300.

PwD candidates get an extra hour. Download past papers from the NTA site to practice the format.

Syllabus: What's on the Plate?

No major overhauls expected—it's NCERT Class 11 & 12 heavy. NTA will release the official PDF soon, but here's a high-level scoop:

Physics

Kinematics, Laws of Motion, Thermodynamics, Electrostatics, Optics, Modern Physics—you know the drill. Focus on experimental skills too.

Chemistry

Physical: Atomic Structure, Thermodynamics, Kinetics.

Inorganic: p-Block, Coordination Compounds.

Organic: Hydrocarbons, Biomolecules, Polymers.

Mathematics

Sets, Calculus, Coordinate Geometry, Vectors, Probability. Trigonometry and 3D Geometry are perennial favorites.

Word of caution: The syllabus was trimmed last year, so verify updates. NCERT is your bible—read it like a novel.

Start Now: With 3 months to Session 1, build a timetable: 6-8 hours daily, balanced across subjects.

Resources: NCERT + HC Verma (Physics), OP Tandon (Chem), RD Sharma (Math). Mock tests weekly via apps like Embibe or NTA's portal.

Strategy: Master concepts first, then speed. Analyze errors—numericals trip most folks.

Health Hack: Sleep 7 hours, exercise, meditate. Burnout is the real enemy.

Advanced Angle: Top 2.5 lakh qualify for JEE Advanced (June 2026)—aim high!

Coaching? Optional if self-disciplined, but communities like Reddit's r/JEENEETards are gold for doubts.
